The world's largest oil painting in the collection of the "Di-Maccio Art Museum, The Forest of Taiyo" in Niikappu-cho, Hokkaido, Japan, was officially certificated by Guinness World Records (TM) on November 14.

The world's largest oil painting (9m in height and 27m in width) by Gerard Di-Maccio, a genius of fantasy painting, which is owned and exhibited at “Di-Maccio Art Museum, The Forest of Taiyo" located in Nikkappu-cho, Hokkaido, has been officially certificated by Guinness World Records (TM) as "The largest professional oil painting by a single artist.
The official certifier presented the certificate to Isao Tanimoto, President of the Museum, at a ceremony held at the museum on Thursday, November 14. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Narumi of the town of Niikappu, residents of Niikappu, local vendors, and many people from as far away as Sapporo, Tokyo, and Osaka, who came to celebrate.

The work that received official certification of Guinness World Records this time boasts an unparalleled and overwhelming scale, measuring 9 meters in height and 27 meters in width. It took Gerard Di-Maccio, three years to complete this huge oil painting by himself, and it was very difficult to exhibit the work due to its size, but it is now on display at the "Di-Maccio Art Museum, The Forest of Taiyo" in Niikappu, Hokkaido. The museum opened in 2010, reusing the former Taiyo Elementary School. More than 200 works by Gerard Di-Maccio, are on display, and this work is displayed in the former gymnasium.

Di-Maccio Art Museum, The Forest of Taiyo is located in the town of Niikappu, about 40-50 minutes by car from New Chitose Airport along the coastline in the direction of Hidaka, opposite Sapporo, and about 30-40 minutes further into the mountains, surrounded by the great outdoors. The former Taiyo Elementary School has been reused and reborn as an art museum.
