About Route Ladies AGA Clinic

While working in the medical field as a plastic surgery and anesthesiology specialist, Dr. Shimizu, the director of the clinic, noticed the depth of the problems of patients suffering from thinning hair when she examined them. I realized the depth of their problems when I examined patients suffering from thinning hair.

Later, as the medical director of a major AGA clinic, I faced the problems of many patients head-on and saw firsthand that too many women were suffering from thinning hair. I wanted to take some action to address the fact that there are few thinning hair treatment clinics specializing in women in the world, and this is when I decided to launch the Route Ladies AGA Clinic.

Men's thinning hair is a sensitive issue, but the complex that women have about their thinning hair is immeasurable. We named our clinic Route Ladies AGA Clinic and opened it in October 2023 with the hope of "showing a route for solving thinning hair" to women who are unofficially wondering "Who should I talk to about this problem of thinning hair...?

What is female pattern of hair loss (FAGA)?

FAGA (female androgenetic alopecia) is a type of alopecia that is often seen in women, in which thinning hair occurs mainly in the hairline at the top of the head, and as it progresses, the entire top of the head becomes thin. Also known as FPHL (Female Pattern Hair Loss), FAGA is thought to have a cause other than male hormones, which are believed to be the cause of male thinning hair (AGA).

FAGA is caused by a disruption of the hair growth cycle. In FAGA, the growth phase is shortened and the resting phase is lengthened, resulting in a decrease in hair density and noticeable thinning of the hair. This is believed to be the cause of FAGA.

Hormonal imbalance

Female hormones play an important role in maintaining the growth phase of hair. However, aging, childbirth, menopause, stress, and irregular lifestyle can cause changes in the amount of female hormones secreted, resulting in imbalance. Hormonal imbalance is thought to be one of the factors that inhibit hair growth and promote the onset and progression of FAGA.

Aging

Aging decreases the activity of hair-producing cells called hair matrix cells, which increases the probability of developing FAGA.

Genetic factors

Genetic factors are also thought to be involved in FAGA. If there is a family history of thinning hair, the risk of developing FAGA may be increased. Genetic factors may shorten the growth period of hairs and thin the thickness of hairs.

Disruptive lifestyle habits such as irregular eating habits, lack of sleep, excessive stress, smoking, and alcohol consumption may also promote the progression of FAGA. An unbalanced diet and lack of sleep can lead to a lack of nutrients necessary for hair and inhibit hair growth. Stress can disrupt the hormonal balance and accelerate the progression of FAGA. Smoking and alcohol consumption may also cause poor blood circulation and inhibit the supply of nutrients to the scalp.
