Background of Development
Kokei Asadaame, familiar with the catchphrase "Asadaame for cough, cold and throat," has been a long-selling product loved by people of all ages since its launch in 1887 as a syrup-type product. It is an OTC drug (designated Class 2 drug) classified as a cough suppressant and expectorant.
Asadaame, which has been manufacturing products in the spirit of "good medicine but sweet to the taste" since its establishment, launched "Asadaame Toui" in September 2020 as a product to easily treat the voice and throat, focusing on traditional sugar-coated technology, formulas containing herbal medicines, and ease of administration. The product is designed by Yusuke Nakamura, an illustrator, and is available for sale in Japan.
The retro-modern can design and beautiful sugar coating, featuring illustrator Yusuke Nakamura, became the talk of the town on social networking sites, and in November 2021, "Asadaame Toui R Limited Edition 2022" was released in a newly-drawn can with a limited quantity design. Since then, the limited edition cans with designs based on the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac have been very popular every year.
This year, we are releasing "Asadaame Toui R Limited Edition 2025" featuring "Red Apple" and "Snake, the Chinese zodiac sign for the year 2025".

Yusuke Nakamura
Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1978, Yusuke Nakamura is an illustrator and graduate of the Department of Design at Osaka University of Arts. He has illustrated CD jackets for ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION and Sada Masashi, as well as numerous book covers for "Nazotoki ha dinner no atode," "Yoru wa mizikashi arukeyo otome," music textbooks, and many others. His art books "Blue" and "NOW" have sold 130,000 copies.

Thanks to your support, we are celebrating the second apple year for the limited edition Asadaame Toui.
Both the regular can and the first limited edition can were dressed in clothes facing sideways, so this time we had them face forward in kimono and finished them in sparkling red like Christmas ornaments and apple candies for the New Year.
