What is Green Life Food Festa?
Green Life Food Festa" is an event that started in Los Angeles, U.S.A., in 2017 to think about "healthy and sustainable lifestyle. In Japan, Green Life Food Festa has been held in Shiga, Tokyo, and Kobe, and was held in Nagoya for the first time last year.
WCO (World Citizen Organization), a student volunteer organization that is the organizer of the event, believes that green, life, and food are important elements that can lead many people to a healthy and affluent lifestyle. We have planned this event to provide an opportunity for many people to discover natural living and food by joining forces with like minded people who are active in the local community.
Contents with a gentle charm that envelops the event
In addition to a total of more than 30 marche stores, a child-care kid's space was set up in the venue for people with children to enjoy the event. A seed-themed hero show for learning with children and picture-story shows by active nursery school teachers and nursery school students are currently in the works. In addition, a lecture by YouTuber Shinya Imahashi, a legend in the world of natural farming, and other contents that immerse visitors in a truly healthy and sustainable lifestyle are gathered.
■Concept "An event that will inspire the younger generation to think about the future of the earth
It is not easy to solve environmental and international problems, but there are surprisingly many opportunities to think about the global environment from the context of our everyday lives. We strongly hope that we can reach as many young people of the same generation as possible that it is not just a matter of pushing ecology, but that it is important to have friends for a truly affluent life.
The theme of this year's GLFF "~Yui Shall we try to ♡(heart)? ~"
Yui. The Chinese character for "yui" literally means to connect something to something else. We would like to make this event an event that values the connection between people through the various things that are connected and tied together and through last year's event! We also want to connect with many like-minded people and think about the future of the earth and its people together! We also want to connect with many like-minded people and think about the future of the earth and its people together!
This year, we challenged crowdfunding for the first time!
The crowdfunding project "We want to hold a 'Green Life Food Festa' that proposes a sustainable lifestyle ( https://for-good.net/project/1000879 )" achieved 500,000 yen in funding for the event.
Last year's event was a great success, and we were able to go from being a small student group until now to being able to send out information externally with this step, and by connecting with many people, we were able to further deepen our knowledge. We took on this challenge because we wanted to connect with more people and make this event sustainable, and we were more than happy to receive support and cooperation from so many people and to have our activities resonate with so many people!
Future Development
When you hear the words "a student organization working on environmental issues," you may feel that it is something highly conscious and unapproachable. Therefore, from next year onward, we would like to focus on activities to increase opportunities to reach out to those close to us through collaboration, such as mini-events and collaborations with other environmental groups, in order to further strengthen the vertical and horizontal unity as an organization working on environmental activities, while making the event more accessible for young people.
Last year's planning committee chair and former female university student became a farmer-oriented YouTuber!
Misaki Kawanishi, the representative of last year's GLFF in NAGOYA, is a leading figure who, as a female university student, rethought how she would live for the earth and for all living creatures on it, and decided to hold the first GLFF in Nagoya after a period of leave of absence from school. After organizing and representing GLFF last year, she is now a farmer-oriented YouTuber who promotes natural farming while practicing a truly sustainable lifestyle.
She says, "I think I was a girl who had a stronger sense of resentment and awareness of the problem than anyone else, because I had loved animals since I was a little girl, and that's why I was so upset that their homes and homelands were being violated by humans.
From there, I continued to search for what I could do to help, and I believe that this led to the holding of the current GLFF. I now spend more than half of my month farming in Ena, Gifu, in order to further pursue natural farming methods that are truly friendly to the earth, and I also put a lot of effort into disseminating information on YouTube and SNS in the hope that more people will learn about the beauty of this farming method."
