Ibaraki Prefecture boasts the largest rice acreage and harvest in the Kanto region, and is known as the "Kanto's top rice-producing region." In addition to Koshihikari, Japan's leading brand-name rice, the prefecture produces a variety of other varieties, including the original Fukumaru variety.
