The "Widow" Film Production Committee is pleased to announce the screening of the film "Widow" at Shimokitazawa Tollywood from November 8 (Fri.) to November 10 (Sun.), 2024, a phantom film that had been in storage for 20 years. This film, which was cranked up in 2005 but was not released due to financial difficulties, stars Osamu Watanabe, who is currently active as an artist.

This film, "The Widow," began shooting 20 years ago by film director Kotobuki 1.3 (Kotobuki Ichisan) and was completed after six months of filming, but due to financial difficulties, the film could not be released. In 2024, however, the production committee was reestablished and editing was completed. Finally, the long-awaited release of the film will be realized.

The lead role is played by Osamu Watanabe, an artist with a unique world view. He has a unique view of the world, and his talent is on display in this film as well. Also playing a supporting role is actor Hisanoh Hirayama, known for his roles in the films "Hell," "Blind Beast vs. One Dimensional Man," and "JOINT. The artistic and challenging casting is a highlight.

Osamu Watanabe graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 2003 with a degree in design. He has been featured on "Tokyo Kawaii TV" (NHK) and "Tetsuko's Room Special" (TV Asahi) as a leading artist who has sublimated the art of sweet decorating. His colorful and elaborate sweets art works, which look just like the real thing, have been attracting attention in Japan and around the world. Twenty years ago! I starred in the movie "The Widow" 20 years ago, and it is now being released after a long hiatus.

Twenty years ago, I quit my job as a new graduate after only one year and was dreaming of becoming an artist when Director Kotobuki suddenly scouted me to make a film. (It was a long time ago, so my memory is a little fuzzy.)

In the movie revived after 20 years, the lost scenery of Tokyo can be seen everywhere, the children of the actors have grown up and graduated from college, everyone has grown old, and only in the movie, youth is overflowing like a jade box. Dazzling!

How can it be that I am still making the same films as I did 20 years ago, while everyone else has grown up and entered into respectable careers? I am in a state of Urashima Taro.

The avant-garde cuts and old visual techniques feel new and fresh after 20 years.

Above all, I feel fresh as I perform for the first time with innocent eyes that knew nothing of the hardships of 20 years ago!

It is wonderful to be young.

I have never acted before, but I was told, "Hold still until the cut! You blink too much! Your posture is bad!

I was given such guidance and encouragement, which later proved useful when I appeared on TV.

After 20 years, I saw the finished product on the big screen for the first time, and I was drawn in from start to finish, and it is a wonderful piece of perfection.
