Kotobuki Seating Co. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Directors: Shigeyuki Fukazawa and Keiko Fukazawa; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") renewed the entrance and the area displaying furniture for school facilities in the experiential showroom located in the head office building on October 1.

The concept is "Co-Creation Space for School Facilities to Open the Future. In addition to experiencing the furniture, visitors can think about various issues related to school facilities, such as "what kind of classroom space is needed now," "what kind of facilities are required for schools to be chosen," "how learning styles will change in the future," and so on. What are the facilities for schools?

Background of renewal

Today, there is a need to create attractive schools and facilities that respond to ever-evolving learning styles, and classrooms and other educational facility furniture are not uniform.

How should schools respond to changes in learning styles, including active learning and inquiry-based learning to realize "independent, interactive, and deep learning," and to changes in the nature of facilities, including compulsory education schools, integrated elementary, junior high, and high schools, and complexes with other public facilities? Designing "learning" that fits the times is a common theme for principals and others involved in schools, and facilities, equipment, and furniture are important elements in realizing these ideas. The renewal of the building was based on the concept of providing a place to think together about these issues, to share knowledge and discuss with each other while looking at examples of our deliveries and actual products.

The entrance that welcomes customers was redesigned to evoke a "theater," one of our main businesses. By inviting visitors to an extraordinary space, it heightens the sense of excitement of entering the showroom.

■Area for school facilities consisting of 4 spaces

The area for school facilities consists of four spaces with different themes.

(1) Studio K

A space that can be used for a variety of purposes. Introduces mechanisms to create the most appropriate setting for each situation, such as grade school assemblies, presentations, and community exchanges.

(2) Lecture Theater

A space for interactive communication between lecturers and presenters and listeners. It reproduces a place where students can acquire various skills for surviving in the future society, such as the ability to listen, make presentations, and convey opinions.

(3) Learning Base

A lecture room space that serves as a base for active learning and inquiry-based learning, which are now commonplace. Experience the functions for smooth class operation and a comfortable place to stay focused.

(4) Discussion Circle

A space where many discussions are held with customers based on various school initiatives, including case studies of deliveries. A place where tips and ideas for facility maintenance are generated.

On the second floor of the school facility area, we reorganized the services of Kotobuki Seating, which not only provides products but also presents and proposes the way education itself should be, into four zones, and designed them with soft curtains. The entire space is made of wood, which reflects the atmosphere of today's educational environment. The space is a fusion of Kotobuki Seating's historic manufacturing and its vision for the future of education. Please come and experience it for yourself.

We have composed the space with a color scheme that is easy to understand for each area, based on the premise of welcoming not only people involved in education and theater, but also a broad range of visitors in the future, and unraveling the character of Kotobuki Seating. In addition, as a visualization of the value of a company that has created specialized and diverse venues, a material shelf was created in the center of the space to list and share the stock of Kotobuki's original upholstery materials. We hope that this will be a place that leads everyone to express themselves freely as they create new venues in the future.
