Futarite (Yoshioka-cho, Gunma Prefecture) is challenging crowdfunding through "grant," a non-profit donation solicitation service, with the aim of realizing a society where the diverse values and lifestyles of working parents without children (=DINKs) are respected. The period is until October 31 (Thursday), 2012, and the target amount is 1 million yen.

DINKs stands for Double Income No Kids.

DINKs are a minority, especially in rural areas, and tend to feel stress due to the gap between traditional customs and values, and are prone to loneliness. Futarite delivers a positive message to such couples to "enjoy life as we are" and provides activities and support to make the lives of DINKs shine brighter. Futarite has received donations and support from both corporate and individual supporters who share our commitment.

To this end, we are creating a community where DINKs can safely express their mental fuzziness in words, and we are launching a social business that functions as an active platform to connect DINKs with various partners, including companies and NPOs.

We believe that the spread of understanding that the DINKs way of life is natural and beautiful will not only help to realize a society where diverse values and ways of life are respected, but will also have great value and impact on the business market.

About the donation project

In order to create momentum for DINKs to actively participate in volunteer activities and take initiative in the future, Futalite will create a real and online community in Gunma Prefecture, which is expected to have the highest percentage of married couples-only households in the Kanto region, and expand the Gunma model nationwide.

We are currently planning the following three initiatives, and hope to use the funds raised for the following activities

(1) A place for DINKs to connect as a community

DINKs can interact with other DINKs by participating in monthly social gatherings and events.

A forum for casual conversation (e.g., about sharing household chores, finances, travel, etc.)

Participate in study groups on a wide range of topics, such as health and inheritance, to prepare for the future.

(2) Experience new services or products specifically for DINKs.

Examples: DINKs-only luxury bus tours, anniversary photo plans, insurance for DINKs

(3) DINKs can participate in community and social activities through NPOs

(e.g., support for children's learning, support for the elderly, event planning, environmental conservation activities, etc.)

Spreading FUTARITE from Gunma to all over Japan

Some people, regardless of gender, are currently suffering from invisible pressure imposed on them by old values, such as "you have to have children to be a full-fledged person.

It is not a pity that they do not have children. It does not mean that we want special treatment. However, we want to change the situation where the existence of DINKs is overlooked to the extent that people feel as if they have become invisible.

There are DINKs from various backgrounds, including couples who are struggling to have children, couples who have decided not to have children, and so on. The project was launched out of a desire to reduce the number of people who are hurt by this overlooked reality, even if only one person.

Amidst calls for measures to combat the declining birthrate, we would like to spread understanding of childless couples and realize an affluent society in which diversity is recognized.

I never thought that marriage or childbirth was my goal in life, but when I experienced infertility treatment and realized that I could not follow the path that many people around me were following, I was depressed for a while. But at the same time, it also made me think about what I could do in my situation.

As DINKs, I want to live a more active and social life. I want to be useful to someone and contribute to society. To achieve this, first of all, I would like to become a role model and communicate the DINKs' lifestyle, and by gaining sympathy, I aim to create a society where people can talk openly about being DINKs. We do not want to leave behind a society in the future where the sad words "childless" and "with children" are used interchangeably.

Through these activities, we hope to realize a society where people with and without children respect each other, help each other, and recognize diverse values in 5 to 10 years from now. We want to build a future where everyone can live prosperously in a society where people can participate in community activities, support households raising children, and support each other.
