AI-Assisted Multi-Language Subtitling Support Beta version of live-streaming platform available from October 1

INISOFT Co., Ltd. Background of "INI AI Subtitle" Development

INISOFT has been providing our live streaming platform "INI Live Streaming Platform" for various domestic and international events. In particular, we have focused on live streaming of K-POP concerts to be held in Korea from 2020, and have been providing live streaming to K-POP fans around the world from the beginning to offer concert videos to K-POP fans around the world.

However, we were not able to provide an adequate experience for some fans because the artists' conversations during the concert were conducted in their native language or the language of the host country. Therefore, we started to provide multiple translations of the conversations during the event as subtitles by interpreters. However, as the problem became apparent because the number of languages and the number of personnel involved in subtitling gradually increased, we developed "INI AI Subtitle" to support transcription and translation work with AI.

Features of INI AI Subtitle

Language and dictionary settings

Multiple languages can be set for the original language used in the live streaming and for the subtitles to be prepared during the streaming. The following 12 languages are currently supported.

In addition, by creating and registering a word dictionary for each event for words that may not be correctly converted from speech, such as names of people, it is possible to prevent misrecognition and mistranslation by the AI.

Before distributing subtitles to viewers, the operator can check the AI recognition results and translation results, and if necessary, modify the subtitles before distributing them. In consideration of the time required for confirmation and correction, the platform can set the delay time from the video input from the venue to the delivery to the user, thus enabling a small number of people to handle even a large number of conversations.

3. Perfect synchronization of subtitle display

Normally, when subtitles are manually created and distributed during a live event, they are displayed a short time after the audio is played, just like subtitles on a TV news program. Our subtitle function records the exact timing of the audio recognized by the AI and displays subtitles in synchronization with the timing of the audio occurrence.

4. subtitle display ON/OFF on a text-by-text basis

If the AI recognizes non-speech sounds as speech, the operator can manage whether or not to deliver the recognized speech as subtitles in units of sentences.

In the case of a concert, since it isn't necessary to generate subtitles for the song when the artist is singing, subtitle generation can be temporarily stopped at any timing and started again when subtitle generation becomes necessary.
