My name is Kohei Iwakami, and I live in Utsumi, Miyazaki City. I have been involved in community activities in Miyazaki City for many years and continue to work to preserve local history and culture. After experiencing the self-restraint caused by the new coronavirus, I have come to think that "life is not that long. I used to just run through the past 40-odd years, but recently I have been thinking, "Can't I be a bridge to pass on something wonderful to the next generation? I have begun to think about how I can be a bridge to pass on something wonderful to the next generation.

There are many historic buildings in Uchiumi, Miyazaki City, but they are suffering from depopulation and maintenance. In particular, this old house, which protects a statue of Amida Nyorai, has been cherished as a symbol of the community, but it is deteriorating. We felt that a "hangout" as a temple school was necessary to protect this valuable cultural asset and pass it on to the next generation. We also believe that providing a place for local children to learn about history and culture will lead to the development of the entire community. In order to make this dream a reality, we need your cooperation.

So far, we have worked to promote the history and culture of Uchimi through community events and workshops. We have also been surveying the current condition of the old houses and preparing plans for their renovation. We have received support from local residents, many of whom have shared our project. We have also clarified the specific plans and budget for the renovation, and with the help of experts, we are now ready to make this a feasible project.

This project is an important step toward preserving the history and culture of our community and passing it on to the next generation. What we hope to achieve through this project

We would like to renovate an old historic farmhouse surrounded by nature in Uchiumi, Miyazaki City, and open a "Terakoya" where local children and adults can learn and interact with each other. This location is protected by the statue of Amida Nyorai Kannon and is a traditional land associated with the origin of Hyuganatsumikan (Hyuganatsumikan). Here, we will provide a place for learning that combines good old Japanese culture, cutting-edge technology, art and music, natural agriculture, next-generation energy, as well as earthbag house construction and photography experiences.

Through this Terakoya, local children will learn about traditional Japanese culture and martial arts while strengthening their minds and bodies, as well as hone their sensibilities through creative experiences in art and music. They will also learn the importance of sustainable living through natural farming and fishing, and experience environmentally friendly future-building techniques through next-generation energy and earthbag house construction. They will also learn techniques and perspectives for recording the beauty of nature through photography experiences, deepen their connection with nature through horseback riding, and nurture their creativity through exposure to modern technologies such as AI and 3D printing.
