Cinema Novecento, Japan's smallest film cinema operated by Cinema Novecento Corporation (located in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture), will screen the original video "Gegege no Kitaro Yona Kinden Mahoe Eroim Essaimu" produced in response to the popularity of "Gegege no Kitaro" aired on "Monday Dramaland" as a one-day special event. This film is regarded as the origin among live-action films and will be screened on November 4, 2024 (Monday, national holiday) as a one-day special event.
More than 20 years before the movie "Gegege no Kitaro," this live-action film was adapted using the latest technology of the time, and although it is an OV film, the elite Japanese special effects staff gathered together.
Although it is an OV film, the film is made by Japan's elite special effects staff. You can fully enjoy the flavor of the good old analog special effects.
Another highlight of the film is the dreamy collaboration of Akuma-kun and Mephistopheles, two of Mizuki's most famous characters, along with Kitaro!
Familiar yokai will appear in full force, and you will never be able to stop looking forward to seeing what kind of special makeup has been applied to them.

Synopsis
One day, Kitaro receives a letter from a postman in the spirit world. The sender was Kitaro's best friend, Demon-kun. According to the letter, Kitaro wants to help his favorite homeroom teacher, Hoshi-sensei, who has gone missing. The story goes that late one night during a two-month period, Hoshi-sensei fell in love with Sakurako, a cherry blossom spirit, and was drained of her energy, turning her into a mummified human, after which she went missing. Kitaro and his friends go to help him when they find out that he is in the ruins...

Shuichi Kokumai was born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1959. He has been making special effects films in 8mm since he was a student. Since entering the industry, he has been in charge of acting and special effects mainly for movies and TV. His representative works include the "Godzilla" series, "Masked Rider" series, and many others. He has also ventured into directing, and his latest work is "If My Girlfriend Were a Monster Hunter..." (tentative). (2022).
Toshio Miike was born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1961, and moved to Tokyo in 1984 after graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at Kyushu University, where he studied under director Nobuo Yajima. After working on the Toei Hero series, he went freelance in 1989 and worked as special effects art for Toho's Godzilla series, Daiei's Gamera series, and Tsuburaya Productions' Ultraman series, among others.
