Manzai duo B&B to revive manzai for one day only in Takasago-shi, Hyogo Prefecture after 17 years! Collaboration live performance by Yôshichi Shimada and Sôenji will be held on Sunday, November 10!

office kuru kuru, an entertainment planning and management company in Osaka, will collaborate with the Osaka Minami shopping district to present a talk-songwriter "Soenji," who is also a rare "sink singer," and Yoshichi Shimada, who pioneered the manzai boom in the 1980s as the manzai duo B&B, won numerous awards including NHK Kamigata Manzai Contest and Kamigata Manzai Grand Prize, and dominated the "Momiji Manju" gag. The collaboration live performance will be held on November 10 (Sun.), 2024 at Takasago City Cultural Hall. Furthermore, on the same day, the manzai duo B&B will return to the stage for the first time in 17 years in the Kansai region with Yoach Shimada as a guest for a one-day manzai performance.

■How the collaborative live performance was held

Talking songwriter "Soenji" has been a big fan of Yôshichi Shimada since his junior high school days, and was once so enthusiastic that he wanted to become his apprentice. 2005, he graduated from a university in Osaka, and around that time, he started playing guitar live on the street, and in 2014, by chance, he was invited to give a lecture in Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture, as the starter. In 2020, Souenji sent an email to a radio program hosted by Yôshichi Shimada. If I become a singer and sell well, I may be able to meet Mr. Yoshichi. I have been working hard with that thought in mind. At the time, Yôshichi Shimada recalled, "If there is someone who loves me so much, I felt I had to work hard once more. At the time, his lectures, the mainstay of his work, had plummeted due to the Corona disaster, and he was on the verge of losing his energy, but "meeting Soenji ignited my heart once more. This was the beginning of an exchange between the two, and they developed a close relationship that could be described as a master-student relationship, to the extent that they held collaborative live performances. Then, they released two collaborative songs, "Kind Words in Kind Words" and "This is the way it is," with lyrics by Shimada Yôshichi and music by Sôenji! Life is like this" were released. To celebrate the release of the English versions of these two songs, a collaborative live performance was held on Sunday, June 16 this year at the Yes Theater on the basement floor of the Namba Grand kagetsu. It was so popular that tickets were SOLD OUT. The next release will be in Hindi.

Talking songwriter born in Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture and raised in Takasago City.

Since 2015, he has been working with "Nanchi Nakasuji Shopping Street," a shopping district in Osaka's Minami district, and continues to play every Friday night. His repertoire consists of approximately 1,050 songs. Soenji's songs are also regularly broadcasted at shopping streets in the Osaka Minami area, such as Namba Center-gai Shopping Street and Minami Sennichimae Shopping Street, contributing to the liveliness of the city.
