Born in Los Angeles, California. His eldest son joined the Boy Scouts of America and became involved in the troop's backpacking program. Through this experience, he became interested in lightweight backpacking and began sewing his own gear, eventually founding his own company producing ultralight backpacking gear. The company Glen founded has been featured in Backpacker, Outside, National Geographic Adventure Magazine, and the New York Times, and is now one of the pioneer brands in UL hiking gear.

This year, Nagano Prefecture has been hit by a series of accidents, and "Mountain Doctor," a drama series about mountain medicine, has indeed captured the hearts of mountain-loving fans in a timely manner. Harusuke Sugino, who plays the main character, made his first appearance at the ALPS Outdoor Summit! Together with Dr. Tomohide Ichikawa, a real mountain doctor from Matsumoto Kyouritsu Hospital, who supervised the medical care for the drama, he will talk about episodes of filming in the mountains and the importance of mountain medicine. He is currently starring in the dramas "Mountain Doctor" (Kantele/Fuji TV, every Monday at 10:00 p.m.) and "Isobe Isobei Monogatari - Ukiyo wa Tsuraiyo" (WOWOW, every Friday at 11:00 p.m.), and is about to star in a drama "Okura" (Fuji TV, every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m., starting October 8). He is also a member of the board of directors of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Profile of Dr. Tomohide Ichikawa

Born on May 23, 1980. Born in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. Currently works at Matsumoto Kyouritsu Hospital. He specializes in cardiovascular medicine, but became interested in mountaineering in 2012, and in June 2018, he obtained certification from the Japanese Society of Mountaineering Medicine as an International Mountaineering Physician. In July 2021, he established the Akadake Kosen mountain clinic in Yatsugatake, where he also operates the clinic.

Continuing from last year, MOUNTAIN DAISY PRODUCTS representative and outdoor style creator Yuri Shikaku, who will appear in the talk session, will be in conversation with Tomoko Suzuki, a manga artist and Matsumoto City Tourism Ambassador.

Eishiro Matsuzawa and Daisuke Hokari, who run two mountain lodges in the Northern Alps, Hakuba Sanso and Yarigatake Sanso, respectively, will discuss the importance of gear from a lodge perspective and the future of lodges.
