Aluna Corporation (Headquarters: Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan; Factory: Satsumasendai City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan) has received the Good Design Award for 2024 (sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion) for its original aluminum picture frames, "Krates. The word "crete" is a French word meaning "mountain ridge" or "ridgeline. The product is characterized by its depth from the sheer outer perimeter to the interior where the artwork is displayed. Minebea will use this award as an opportunity to expand product recognition, actively promote the use of design in manufacturing, and work to enhance its brand image.

The cross-sectional shape of Crete is characterized by a large triangle and the part where the acrylic is placed is separated from the part where the work is installed. The large triangular shape, cut off diagonally on the inside, separates the work from its surroundings and contributes to a more immersive experience of the work inside. Although it appears to be a large frame, the large sloping surface gives it a sharp impression. This structure also succeeded in reducing the amount of aluminum for its size, leading to weight reduction. By separating the acrylic from the artwork, a small space is created between the acrylic and the artwork. This space enhances the sense of rarity of the artwork, and also allows for a luxurious display method called "ukashi," in which the artwork is displayed floating from the back, as is done with Japanese frames. In addition, a unique part called "Flat Parts" (patent No. 7395205), patented by our company, is also attached, allowing the work to be installed flat on the wall, making it easy to give the work an interesting air.

Conventional aluminum frames have been designed with a focus on cheapness and ease of production, but Kreuz is delicately designed with a focus on what kind of items will be displayed and where they will be hung. The product is well-balanced without neglecting the price range or productivity. The distance between the acrylic and the artwork has been carefully considered, and the fact that a little ingenuity can change the image significantly was also highly evaluated.
