Itohkyuemon's new Fushimi Inari store opens on August 1!

Itohkyuemon Co. (Location: Uji City, Kyoto; President: Joji Hirose), founded in the late Edo period, is a teahouse founded in 1832 (Tempo 3) with its main store in Uji, Kyoto, which is home to two World Heritage sites.

Itohkyuemon opened its ninth domestic store, Itohkyuemon Fushimi Inari Store, on Thursday, August 1, 2024, specializing in souvenirs and selling a variety of Uji green tea sweets and Uji green tea, including the popular Matcha Parfait Ice cream Bar on SNS.

The location is approximately a 3-minute walk from Fushimi Inari Taisha, one of Kyoto's most famous tourist attractions. The "Matcha Parfait Ice cream Bar" painted on the signboard above the store is a landmark. The "Matcha Parfait Ice cream Bar" which are ice cream bars made from Itohkyuemon's Uji green tea parfait and seasonal parfait, have sold more than 1 million units in total and have been featured on SNS and TV. Please enjoy it as an accompaniment to your meal.

In addition, the store offers a wide range of other products, including a selection of matcha sweets using luxurious Uji matcha green tea and fragrant Uji tea, perfect as souvenirs for tourists in Kyoto.

History of Itohkyuemon

It started in the late Edo period (Tempo 3) when Tsuneemon Ito I and Takizo Ito were involved in the tea business in the village of Meimura, Tahara (present-day Uji-Tawaraminami). The tea business was then passed down from generation to generation through Ito Tsuneemon II and Kyuzaburo, Ito Tsuneemon III and Yoshimatsu, and Ito Takichi IV. In 1952, Kyuzo Ito V moved from Uji-Tawara to Uji, and opened a store selling Uji tea at Uji-Renge (present-day Heidoin Omotesando). In the same year, when he established the company, he took the name of Ito Tsuneemon, which had been passed down from generation to generation, and the first letter of "Hisa" in Ito Kyuzo's own name, and named the company "Itohkyuemon Co. The company continues to produce tea in Uji-Tawara, where the company was founded, at the tea plantation that has been passed down in the Ito family from generation to generation.
