Daito City, Osaka Prefecture, has implemented a new function, "Garbage Reduction Game," on the official Daito City LINE to reduce the amount of garbage from July 24, 2024 (Wednesday). Playing the game is a fun way to learn how to separate garbage. When garbage is correctly sorted and disposed of, it can be reused as a resource and incinerated more efficiently, resulting in a reduction in the amount of garbage.

Currently, waste generated from the Kinki catchment area is accepted by the Osaka Bay Regional Waterfront Environmental Improvement Center (Phoenix Final Landfill). The center will continue to accept waste until FY2032, but after that date the capacity of the disposal site will be exceeded, so further reduction of waste is being sought.

The center publishes a "Garbage Collection Calendar" to inform the public about how to separate garbage in an easy-to-understand manner, but there are many inquiries from the public, so how to make this information known is an issue. We thought about whether we could give this information back to the citizens in an efficient manner, and as a result, we decided to introduce a game using LINE, one of the familiar applications, so that the citizens can learn how to separate garbage while having fun at the same time. ■How to start the game
