We have been selling items related to Eiichi Shibusawa as a local development project at our Shibusawa Ippin Kan TSUNAGU marche. In July 2024, for the first time in 20 years, a new banknote will be issued with the portrait of Shibusawa Eiichi, a great man associated with Kita Ward, and the "New 10,000-yen Note Issuance Countdown Project" has been launched as a public-private partnership project with Kita Ward. The purpose of this public-private partnership is to spread the spirit of Shibusawa Eiichi and the charm of Kita Ward throughout Japan, and to build momentum for the issuance of the new 10,000-yen bill.

＜Japan's first new 10,000-yen bill "Osatsu no Osatsu Bun

This is Japan's first 10,000 yen bill bread modeled after the new 10,000 yen bill with Shibusawa Eiichi's portrait, which will be redesigned for the first time in 20 years in July. The bread is filled with homemade sweet potato bean paste and sweet potato nectar. It is the same size as a real 10,000 yen bill, 160mm x 76mm, and 10mm to 12mm thick, and is sealed with a band to recreate the look of a bundle of one million yen bills. On the front is a cute illustration of Eiichi Shibusawa. The bread is made without water to make it moist and tender.

＜Silk Hat Anpan, a favorite of Shibusawa Eiichi

The "Silk Hat Anpan" is based on Shibusawa Eiichi's trademark silk hat. Inside the hat, which is shaped like a silk hat, is a loaf of bread filled with red bean paste from Shimizu Town, Hokkaido, a town associated with Eiichi Shibusawa. The deep sweetness of the red bean paste and the fluffy, cocoa-flavored dough are the hallmarks of this bread.
