Oak Village, Inc. (Head office: Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture; Representative Director: Eiji Ueno), a woodworking workshop in Hida Takayama, will hold a manufacturing talk event on June 12 (Wed) and 13 (Thu), 2024 at its directly-managed store "Oak Village Aoyama" located in Omotesando, Aoyama, Tokyo.

Manufacturing Talk Event

Based in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, Oak Village Co., Ltd. has been engaged in a wide range of businesses from the manufacture and sale of wooden furniture and products using domestic timber to wooden architecture under the principles of "Harmony with the environment" and "Wood that takes 100 years to grow can be used for 100 years" since its foundation in 1974.

This manufacturing talk event was held to commemorate the launch of a new product, "Setsubun no Tsumiki," jointly developed with the Tokyo Toy Museum. The content of the event is related to wooden accessories (toys), furniture, and architecture, in keeping with one of the company's principles, "From bowls to buildings.

Furniture and Life from the Perspective of Architecture

With the philosophy of "from bowls to buildings," we are involved in a wide range of wooden products, from small articles to furniture and wooden architecture.

Mr. Ueno, our president and architect, will talk about the connection between wooden architecture, furniture, and living in Oak Village from his point of view.

The Future of Wooden Toys and Wooden Education

Chihiro Tada, Director of the Tokyo Toy Museum, will talk about the importance of "Mokuiku (wood education)," a concept that is shared by both our company, which continues to produce safe and healthy wooden toys made of domestic wood, and the Tokyo Toy Museum, which creates spaces to pass on and foster local culture through "toys" and "play. The event will feature a talk by Ms. Chihiro Tada, Director of the Tokyo Toy Museum, on the importance of "wood education".

The two companies will unveil a new product, "Setsubuku no Tsumiki" (retail price: 15,400 yen, tax included), which was jointly developed by the two companies and will go on sale on July 1, 2024, and talk about the future of wood education, including the secret story of its birth.

What are Setsukusa no Tsumiki?

Sekku-no-tsumiki are building blocks that combine two traditional Japanese festivals (Peach and Dragon Boat) and "figurative play" based on imagination. During the Sekku season, the blocks are displayed and enjoyed as ornaments, and the feelings behind the ornaments are passed on to the next generation. On days other than Sekku, you can freely play with them by piling them up or creating some kind of shape with them. The warmth of Japanese wood and the soft scent of wood will nurture your senses.
