■Background of the project

Shinya Ueda, the representative director of this organization, has himself been truant from school. His experience of not attending school led him to think about the state of school education, and he decided to "build a school by myself, instead of waiting for someone else to do it. With this determination, he obtained a teaching license and started working at a high school. Later, he came to realize the importance of truancy and agriculture and food, and joined a tourist farm and another free school organization. He then founded this organization.

We have started this project in order to let children who have been truant from school experience a new world by exposing them to food and agriculture.

All three of us who run this organization have experience of not attending school. Whether or not they have experienced truancy is the most important point. We are looking for people who understand children who are in the same situation or have felt the same way. In other words, we are a big part of the children's lives. That is why we put our lives on the line to help them.

We support children who are truant or withdrawn from school, and we have decided to start a business with a high school teacher and his student! This is the first of its kind in Japan and is currently attracting a lot of media attention.

On April 1, 2026, we will open the Ooaso Mirai Compulsory Education School, a school designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for the diversification of learning (scheduled). This is the first private compulsory education school in Japan to open a new school for diversifying learning.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is pushing for the establishment of special schools for truancy as a pressing issue in view of the rapid increase in the number of truants, and it is the biggest challenge in modern Japanese education. Therefore, knowing that the national and local governments are limited in their burden and scope of activities, we have decided to face this urgent issue of Japanese education by establishing schools with our private sector power, so that no child who does not attend school or does not fit into the regular school education system will be left behind.
