HORIKU GPS Art Department (Location: Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Representative: Motoi Ishikawa) will hold "Ganbarou Uchinada (Let's do our best): Marine Litter Zero GPS Art" on June 2 (Sunday) at Uchinada Beach in Uchinada Town, Kahoku County, Ishikawa Prefecture, in conjunction with Spring Marine Litter Zero Week (May 30 (Thursday) to June 9 (Sunday), 2024)! Zero Marine Litter GPS Art" will be held on June 2 (Sunday) at Uchinada Beach in Uchinada-cho, Kahoku-gun, Ishikawa Prefecture.

By raising funds for the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, creating GPS art to support reconstruction, and cleaning up the beach together with all participants, we hope to foster a sense of support and encourage people to take a step forward.

About "GPS Art

GPS Art is an artistic sport in which pictures and text are drawn on a map using a smartphone or other device capable of displaying and recording one's location. The real thrill is to think about the pattern you want to express, work together to create a work of art on your own feet, and share a sense of accomplishment at the finish line.

The strengths of GPS Art are its "low participation hurdle" and "message. You can hold an event just by running or walking, and you can connect your thoughts through your message.

About "Marine Litter Zero Week

Zero Marine Litter Week" is a nationwide cleanup campaign jointly promoted by the Nippon Foundation and the Ministry of the Environment under the slogan "Zero Marine Litter" to protect the future of the oceans. In 2024, the event will be held from May 30 (Thursday) to June 9 (Sunday) and from September 20 (Friday) to September 29 (Sunday), to include the three commemorative days: May 30, "Zero Marine Litter Day," June 5, "Environment Day," and June 8, "World Oceans Day.
