The Japan Hypochlorous Acid Industry Association (hereafter referred to as "JSA") will revise its regulations for granting the certification mark in accordance with the most reliable JSA standard (JSA-S1012:2022 Molecular Hypochlorite Solution) for hypochlorite water for general commercial use, effective April 1, 2024. The new direction that the association aims to take with this revision is to increase the number of members and strengthen the foundation for the dissemination of various types of information, including the dissemination of the JSA mark.

Points of Revision of Certification Mark Granting Regulations

＜Relaxation of eligibility conditions for membership and establishment of "JSA Special Membership

Until now, "recommendation by a member" was required to join the Japan Society of Hypochlorous Oxidation Industry. This was a high hurdle for some companies and individuals, and was a factor in their hesitancy to apply. This revision will make it easier to apply by establishing a new "JSA Special Membership" that does not require the "recommendation of a member. This will make it easier for newcomers and small businesses in the hypochlorite water industry to join our association.

＜The basic flow of the "JSA Special Membership" application process is as follows

1. Please follow the "Application Procedure for Membership in the Japan Hypochlorite Association" on the association's website: https://hcia.or.jp/262

2) After submitting the application form and receiving notification that the application has passed the document screening, you will be asked to send us the products you are currently selling (we will also check the description of the products). A total of 200,000 yen is required for the first year as an application fee + certification inspection fee + 1-year certification mark usage rights fee, and a renewal fee + simple inspection fee + 1-year certification mark usage rights fee of 100,000 yen is required from the following year. We hope that this will further develop the hypochlorite water industry and assure the quality of hypochlorite water.

■Major Points of Change

<Change to a fixed fee system for the use of the certification mark

Previously, the fee was set at a fixed amount.

To obtain the certification mark, in addition to the admission fee and annual membership fee, an initial certification inspection fee and the cost of purchasing a certification seal were separately required. After the change

With this revision, the right fee for the use of the accreditation mark will be set at a fixed amount for one year, regardless of the quantity used. As a result, both large companies that use the certification mark in large quantities and small businesses that use the certification mark only in small quantities will be able to use the certification mark for the same amount of money.

We hope that these revisions will enable more companies to obtain the "JSA Standard Compliant" certification mark for hypochlorite water and prove its reliability. This will not only assure the quality of hypochlorite water, but also contribute to the reliability and transparency of the industry as a whole. The Association will continue its efforts to apply the JSA standard and promote the certification mark in order to support the sound development of the hypochlorite water industry.
