Sujata Ice Cream (Zunda)," which was jointly selected and sold for the first time in July 2023, was well received by many customers, so JR-PLUS will release a new flavor, "Sujata Ice Cream (Kyoto Uji Green Tea)," as its second product, from March 16, 2024. Enjoy the richness of Sujata ice cream and the flavorful taste of Uji matcha green tea produced in Kyoto Prefecture.

Kyoto Uji Matcha Ice Cream

The first ice cream flavor chosen for the joint project was "Zunda", a well-known flavor in the Tohoku region. And now, for the second phase,

(1) In response to many requests from customers, attendants, and Shinkansen pursers

(2) To please overseas customers as well.

(3) The flavor should have a connection with the Tokaido Line.

The selection was made with these three factors in mind.

The tea fields can be seen from the windows of the Tokaido Shinkansen trains, so we decided on "Matcha Flavor" and created "Sujata Ice Cream (Kyoto Uji Matcha)" using Uji Matcha produced in Kyoto Prefecture.

You can feel the tea itself in this ice cream!

We have also considered compatibility with other drinks.

≪We also paid special attention to the packaging.

To match the ingredients, we designed the package with a mizuhiki (a Japanese knot made with plum blossoms) on the lid, which is often used for celebratory occasions. The auspicious ume knot has three meanings.

(1) Firm and untied: Wishing success for businesspeople who are about to go on a business meeting, and for those who are going to meet someone they have feelings for.

(2) Keeps evil away: Wishing for good luck with the plum, which is considered a good-luck charm.

(3) To improve one's destiny: Wishing for the improvement of one's destiny through the plum blossoms that bloom in spring.
