Yamaya Communications Inc. (Headquarters: Sasaguri-machi, Kasuya-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture; President: Masahide Yamamoto; hereafter "Yamaya") will open its first restaurant in Hokkaido, Hakata Tempura Yamaya COCONO SUSUKINO, specializing in Hakata tempura set meals, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. This will be Yamaya Communications' sixth restaurant specializing in tempura in Japan.

The new "Hakata Tempura YAMAYA COCONO SUSUKINO" will employ a style that has become mainstream in Hakata, where tempura is deep-fried in front of a counter inside the restaurant and served to customers one dish at a time. In addition to the existing serving style, the restaurant also offers take-out to the food court located on the same floor. A children's menu for elementary school students and younger is also available for families.

The set meals are served with rice and Yamaya's spicy cod roe and mustard plantain, which can be refilled freely (limited to eating and drinking inside the restaurant). Tempura is deep-fried to a crispy aroma in a special oil rich in cottonseed oil and corn oil, and served with tempura sauce made with uma-dashi, a golden blend of six carefully selected domestic dashi ingredients including jiaogao, a specialty of Kyushu, and rich bonito by topping.

In addition to various set menus, the take-out menu includes the popular "YAMAMI TENDON" (bowl of rice topped with tempura and tempura served over rice) with shrimp, kiss, pork loin, half-boiled egg, and three kinds of vegetables, and three types of bento boxes: "Anago-mabushi Tenjyu" (tempura topped with eel) and "Ebi-mabushi Tenjyu" (tempura topped with shrimp).
