Yamamoto Sewing Machine Company (Location: 2-19, Hirokoji-cho, Mishima, President: Mitsuhiro Yamamoto), a long-established sewing machine company founded in 1948, will launch a new service, "Sewing Machine Consultant" at the end of January 2024 to support people who challenge new businesses with sewing machines.

This service was conceived and will be implemented by Ryuta Yamamoto, who will succeed to the company. We will propose the most suitable products according to the concepts and requests of those who have come up with ideas for businesses using sewing machines, and provide follow-up services such as repairs and explanations of functions even after the machines have been introduced.

In recent years, sewing machines have become more sophisticated, including those equipped with AI, making it easier for individuals to create embroidered clothes, hats, bags, and other small items, as well as original patches. The Corona disaster has also led to an increase in the number of businesses starting new businesses using commercial sewing machines and sole proprietors using home-use sewing machines to make and sell sundry goods online. We will provide continuous support from zero to those who want to seize opportunities with sewing machines, from those who want to make a little extra money to those who want to earn a solid income. This business was approved for the Shizuoka Prefecture Management Innovation Plan in December 2023.

■Ryuta Yamamoto, Sewing Machine Consultant

Born in 1990, he is 33 years old. After graduating from university, he worked for a year at a sewing machine manufacturing company and a Brother repair shop before joining his father's family business, Yamamoto Sewing Machine Company, at the age of 24.

In 2024, 10 years after being involved in the maintenance and repair of thousands of sewing machines, he launched "Sewing Machine Consultation" to make use of the feedback he had received from customers.

Sewing machines are tools that can be used to "upcycle" fabric products before they are discarded. I would like to actively communicate that this is connected to Goal 12 of the SDGs, "Responsibility to Create, Responsibility to Produce," and Goal 8, "Job Satisfaction and Economic Growth.

Case Study: Pizzeria Barre Dichotte

We provided sewing machine consultation services to Takahiro Yamamoto, owner of Pizzeria Bar Diciotto, an Italian restaurant on Mishima Hirokoji.

When Mr. Yamamoto asked Corona Disaster for advice on how to create original embroidered products, we introduced an embroidery machine for professional use. Mr. Yamamoto currently uses the machine to produce and sell embroidered clothing items and originally designed patches for his apparel division "Diciotto plus" under the original brand "DiMONDO.

I was a complete amateur when it came to sewing machines, so I asked Ryuta to teach me from scratch when he introduced the machine. Even now, when I have trouble using the machine, he responds promptly to my inquiries, which I appreciate. On-site repair fee

The only sewing machine company in Mishima City that sells and repairs household and commercial sewing machines, operates a dressmaking school and clothing reform store, and holds workshops to familiarize customers with sewing machines. We are the only company in the prefecture that handles embroidery sewing machines for professional use.
