Furano City (Mayor: Takeru Kita), Hokkaido, has been conducting city promotions based on the themes of "agriculture (agriculture, agricultural products, processed agricultural products, etc.) and snow (snow, winter, winter tourism, etc.)". Furano City (Mayor: Mr. Taketoshi Kita) is currently recruiting participants for these two tours.

Background

Agriculture is one of the key industries in Furano City, Hokkaido, where many agricultural products are produced in the fertile land. Melons, corn, onions, potatoes, and other products are favored throughout the country as tax returns from hometowns. However, the number of farm households has decreased from 1,017 in 2000 to 544 in 2020 due to a lack of bearers, and the area under cultivation is also slightly decreasing.

Tourism, another key industry, which at its peak in 2002 attracted more than 2.4 million visitors a year, has been on a gradual downward trend since then, with the number of visitors to Furano falling to 1.06 million in the wake of the coronavirus disaster.

After the shift to category 5 of the new coronavirus infection, there has been a recovery trend in the city's economy, but in order to further revitalize the region, we are aiming to revitalize core industries and improve the citizens' attachment to the region. A new value of Furano will be proposed by focusing on "agriculture and snow," which is an everyday activity for the citizens.

■Outline of Tour

＜The cold is a feast. Enjoy Furano in the extreme cold for a 3-day winery tour that can only be experienced in winter.

This special winery tour will take visitors by sightseeing bus to three wineries in the Furano area, including Furano Wine, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022, and which are difficult to access by public transportation. The tour includes a visit to the underground cellar of the Furano Wine Factory, which is normally inaccessible, the making of original etiquettes (labels), a tour of the silvery vineyards, and a view of the Furano Basin from the Furano Ski Resort ropeway station. Visitors can enjoy a heartwarming time of wine and food, listening to the thoughts of the winemakers, while experiencing the winter beauty unique to the Furano area.

This project is supported by the Japan Tourism Agency's "Cooperative Project for Transportation and Tourism (revitalization and high-value-adding of tourist attractions and tourism industry in the region).

Price: 200,000 yen per person, double occupancy, single occupancy (tax included)

<Photo tour in Furano in winter, scheduled to be held in March 2024! ＞

Furano City, Hokkaido, has been communicating "real life in Furano surrounded by nature" through SNS and web media.

This time, Furano City's Regional Development Cooperation Volunteers have planned a photo tour for visitors to actually experience Furano's nature. The tour includes a photo session where you can learn photography skills from a professional photographer, a snowshoeing experience, and other contents that will allow you to experience Furano in winter through all five senses.

This tour is recommended for those who want to take pictures of beautiful snowy landscapes, learn how to use an SLR camera, and connect with others through photography.
