Completely free" programming camp for students and new graduates The 5th Sonic Garden Camp" was held.

株式会社ソニックガーデン

Sonic Garden Inc. (Location: Ota-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshito Kuranuki) announces that it will hold a free programming camp for students and new graduates from January 15 to February 9, 2024.

Sonic Garden Camp Eye Catch

This project provides an opportunity for first-time programming students to gain experience in creating a web application from scratch.

The program has been held four times so far, and in a post-programming survey, all participants said that they would recommend the program to their juniors and friends who aspire to become engineers.

We have also produced graduates who have gone on to become engineers, and we would like to continue to provide a place to learn for those who are embarking on a career as an engineer, which is why we have decided to hold the 5th Sonic Garden Camp.

The "Sonic Garden Camp" is a self-managed educational curriculum, rather than a school-style curriculum where instructors teach by hand, so it is intended for those who can take the initiative and have a strong desire to learn.

We have planned this opportunity to support young people who aspire to work in the IT industry in the future. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sonic Garden Camp

The SonicGarden Camp is where beginning programming students can work with their peers on the first steps to entering a career as an engineer.

You will work intensively for a period of about 4 weeks completely online and gain experience developing an application from scratch in Ruby on Rails. Even if you have a liberal arts background or no experience, you can still participate.

This camp is not lecture style, but rather participants help each other. It is divided into a tutorial period in the first half and a practical period in the second half, and only those who can complete the first half can proceed to the second half.

Naturally, this short period alone will not be enough to reach a level at which one can work. However, if you are able to overcome this extremely hard camp, you should be able to learn the joy of being an engineer and gain confidence in your ability to work.

Features

Sonic Garden programmers will be assigned as mentors to support your learning.

Participants will work together to solve questions and teach each other as they learn and develop.

In the first half, participants will learn the basics of Ruby on Rails in a tutorial style, where each individual will create a specific application.

In the second half, participants will work in teams to plan, develop, and release their own original apps.

The second half of the course will be hands-on, where you will work as a team to plan, develop, and release an original app. We provide an environment where you can communicate with each other at all times.

The first half of the course will be taught using the Rails Tutorial ( https://railstutorial.jp/ ).

As a benefit of participation, you will be able to continue using the Rails tutorial after completing this camp.

Intended audience

Those who want to gain experience and confidence as they transition from a different industry to an engineering career.

Those who are aiming for a job in the IT industry from a liberal arts background and want to experience what it's like to work in the industry.

Those who have started programming and find it interesting and want to improve their skills.

Those who want to prepare for a job as a programmer in the coming spring.

Those who want to be able to create web applications but are stuck in self-study.

Those who have programming experience but have no experience with Ruby on Rails and would like to learn it.

Participants' Comments

When I was studying the program alone, I felt lonely and anxious because I did not receive feedback.

However, I had friends to study with at the camp, and the people at Sonic Garden helped me in various ways, which was very supportive during the camp.

Including the feedback from the programmers at the presentation, it gave me a lot of confidence."

After the camp, I feel that I have grown to a point that I could not have imagined a month ago.

It is thanks to the management as well as the friends I worked with.

The experience of pushing myself to finish in a short period of time gave me a lot of confidence. I want to write code with everyone again!

Thoughts on the event

We at Sonic Garden believe that the work of programming is to start from the point where we come up with ideas of what to create, design data and UI, write beautiful code, create software with high maintainability, and continue to operate and modify it.

This is not an easy task that can be done overnight, but it is very creative, fun, and highly rewarding.

We have been honing our skills through friendly competition with our colleagues who love programming, with the ideal of "making programmers our life-long job and continuing to aim high. Programming is no longer just a job for us; it is a path that we devote our entire lives to, and a pastime that we enjoy in itself.

There is no doubt that society will demand engineers who can develop software in the future. At that time, I believe that the world will become a wonderful place if there are more people who do more than just programming as a job.

For this reason, we have planned this camp to create an opportunity for young people who want to work as engineers to learn about both the rigors and the joys of programming by utilizing our experience and knowledge.

The camp activities may be very hard. However, that is why the experience you will gain should be great. Why don't you take this opportunity to experience a part of the world of programming as a career? We are waiting for your challenge.

About Sonic Garden Inc.

Sonic Garden is a software development company that provides "contracted development without delivery. Contract development without delivery" is a new business model in which we work with our clients as a consulting partner, like a professional, and provide software development and operation for a fixed monthly fee.

The advisory programmers who provide "contracted development without delivery" handle everything from talking directly with the client to design, implementation, and operation. We believe that this job, which uses programming as a means to solve problems, is worth working on as a "lifetime job," and Sonic Garden wants to be a place where "programmers for life" can become a reality.
