Sonic Garden Camp Eye Catch

This project provides an opportunity for first-time programming students to gain experience in creating a web application from scratch.

The program has been held four times so far, and in a post-programming survey, all participants said that they would recommend the program to their juniors and friends who aspire to become engineers.

We have also produced graduates who have gone on to become engineers, and we would like to continue to provide a place to learn for those who are embarking on a career as an engineer, which is why we have decided to hold the 5th Sonic Garden Camp.

The "Sonic Garden Camp" is a self-managed educational curriculum, rather than a school-style curriculum where instructors teach by hand, so it is intended for those who can take the initiative and have a strong desire to learn.

We have planned this opportunity to support young people who aspire to work in the IT industry in the future. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sonic Garden Camp

The SonicGarden Camp is where beginning programming students can work with their peers on the first steps to entering a career as an engineer.

You will work intensively for a period of about 4 weeks completely online and gain experience developing an application from scratch in Ruby on Rails. Even if you have a liberal arts background or no experience, you can still participate.

This camp is not lecture style, but rather participants help each other. It is divided into a tutorial period in the first half and a practical period in the second half, and only those who can complete the first half can proceed to the second half.

Naturally, this short period alone will not be enough to reach a level at which one can work. However, if you are able to overcome this extremely hard camp, you should be able to learn the joy of being an engineer and gain confidence in your ability to work.

Features

Sonic Garden programmers will be assigned as mentors to support your learning.

Participants will work together to solve questions and teach each other as they learn and develop.

In the first half, participants will learn the basics of Ruby on Rails in a tutorial style, where each individual will create a specific application.

In the second half, participants will work in teams to plan, develop, and release their own original apps.

The second half of the course will be hands-on, where you will work as a team to plan, develop, and release an original app. We provide an environment where you can communicate with each other at all times.

The first half of the course will be taught using the Rails Tutorial ( https://railstutorial.jp/ ).

As a benefit of participation, you will be able to continue using the Rails tutorial after completing this camp.

Those who have programming experience but have no experience with Ruby on Rails and would like to learn it.

Sequential after selection : Environment construction and basic programming learning

January 15 : Orientation

January 15-26 : Ruby on Rails learning assignment

Jan. 29 - Feb. 8 : Creation of original applications in teams

Feb. 9 : Presentation

All days will be held from 9:30 to 18:30. As a rule, the program is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays.

Please make sure you have enough time to learn as the amount of assignments are designed for full-day participation.

Applicants must be a student at an institution of higher education (university, graduate school, technical college, etc.) or have graduated within the past 3 years.

Internet access is required (fiber optic line is recommended).

・Preparation (10 hours worth) of study in advance is required.

Participants must be able to participate in the entire camp (if this is difficult, please consult with us in advance).

Participants must agree to allow us to use the contents (photos, recordings, codes, postings, etc.) generated during their participation in the camp for camp management purposes (including posting on social networking sites, etc.).

We at Sonic Garden believe that the work of programming is to start from the point where we come up with ideas of what to create, design data and UI, write beautiful code, create software with high maintainability, and continue to operate and modify it.

We have been honing our skills through friendly competition with our colleagues who love programming, with the ideal of "making programmers our life-long job and continuing to aim high. Programming is no longer just a job for us; it is a path that we devote our entire lives to, and a pastime that we enjoy in itself.

There is no doubt that society will demand engineers who can develop software in the future. At that time, I believe that the world will become a wonderful place if there are more people who do more than just programming as a job.

For this reason, we have planned this camp to create an opportunity for young people who want to work as engineers to learn about both the rigors and the joys of programming by utilizing our experience and knowledge.
