In order to promote Miyagi's charms throughout Japan, Miyagi Prefecture has produced a series of short videos titled "Numaru Miyagi" introducing recommended spots around the prefecture under the themes of "tourism," "food," "culture," and "nature," which Miyagi is proud of, and released them in two installments.

This second video, starring actress Shiori Tamada, will be available on Miyagi Prefecture's official YouTube and official campaign SNS (Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok) from December 1, 2023 (Friday).

In conjunction with the release of the video, a "Travel to Numaru Miyagi" campaign will also be held, in which 50 winners will be selected in a drawing to win JTB travel coupons.

■Video Overview

Mr. Tamada, a native of Miyagi Prefecture, takes you on a tour of various places in the prefecture and tells you about the charms of Miyagi that will make you swamped (addicted) to it. Not only visiting well-known tourist spots, but also visiting hidden places of interest loved by local people and talking with local people, Ms. Tamada herself came in touch with a new side of Miyagi and rediscovered its charms.

The videos are again 19 short-length videos. They introduce attractive spots in different cities and towns from the first series of videos. The "Numaru Miyagi" series consists of 38 videos introducing all 35 cities, towns, and villages in the prefecture.

Miyagi's Attractiveness as a Tourist Spot

Miyagi Prefecture is surrounded by abundant nature and is blessed with a wide variety of fresh seafood, vegetables, meat, and other abundant foodstuffs. In addition, there are many attractive sightseeing spots and gourmet foods, including beautiful natural scenery that changes from season to season, historical sites such as the ruins of Sendai Castle and Matsushima, and hot spring resorts.

The "Numaru Miyagi" series aims to introduce these attractions of Miyagi in short videos, especially to the younger generation, so that they can discover new aspects of Miyagi.

Shiori Tamada

Born on February 20, 2002. Born in Miyagi Prefecture.

Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 15th All Japan National Bishojo Contest.

She is the 19th Unitika Mascot Girl and the first Unitika Ambassador.

Made her acting debut in "My Uncle - WATAOJI" on TV Asahi in 2019. She has since appeared in various productions.

(1) Minamisanriku San San Shopping Street [Minamisanriku Town]

A large-scale tourist facility that is a symbol of Minamisanriku's recovery. The shopping district offers a variety of fresh seafood from the Sanriku coast and local souvenirs, including "Kira Kira Don," a bowl of rice topped with sparkling seasonal seafood at a reasonable price. A real moai statue donated by Easter Island is also on display.

(2) Ruins of Sendai Castle [Sendai City]

Sendai Castle, the residence of Date 620,000 goku (feudal lord), was located at an elevation of 130 meters above sea level.

The castle is now open to the public as a park, and from the ruins of the main citadel, where a statue of Lord Date Masamune mounted on his horse stands, you can enjoy a panoramic view from the center of Sendai City to the Pacific Ocean. There are also many souvenir shops and exhibits of information and materials.

(3) Togatta Onsen Hot Spring [Zao Town]

Togatta Onsen is one of the representative hot spring resorts in Miyagi Prefecture. The hot spring town is dotted with public bathhouses where visitors can enjoy footbaths and gourmet food spots, making it a sightseeing spot where visitors can tour the hot spring and enjoy eating and drinking.

It is said to be the birthplace of the kokeshi doll, and kokeshi dolls can be seen on bridges and panels.
