Yamaya Communications Inc. Background of development

According to data released by the Japan National Tourism Organization in October 2023*1, the number of foreign visitors to Japan in September 2023 recovered to 96.1% compared to the same month in 2019. In addition, according to the Survey of Trends in Foreign Visitor Spending in Japan for the July-September period of 2023*2 released by the Japan Tourism Agency on the same day, the amount spent by foreign visitors to Japan increased by 17.7% compared to the same period in 2019. With this post-Corona recovery in domestic and inbound travel demand, the souvenir sales floor is experiencing a growth trend. Small size and bulk sales are spreading in the souvenir sales area, and consumer demand for low-priced products is increasing.

Under such circumstances, two types of Yamaya's snack series, "Yamaya Dry Mentaiko Grilled Cheese Sandwich" and "Yamaya Men Mayo Flavor Squid Tempura" have been well received, and there have been calls for variations in flavor. Therefore, we have developed the third in the series, "Mentaiko Saki-ika" as a convenient travel companion to the popular snack series.
