S&F Corporation (Location: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative: Yuzuru Ogura), held a swimming test in Da Nang City, Vietnam on September 17, 2023, as part of its efforts to promote swimming in Vietnam. 109 children took the test and 84 passed.

This year's swimming proficiency test was held for 109 participants (including 2 Japanese), who took 135 tests, of which 84 participants passed 95 tests.

This is more than double the number of participants from the 43 who took the previous swimming proficiency test held in Da Nang City on May 14. We see this as an indication that the need for swimming is increasing in Vietnam and that many Vietnamese are in need of a "goal to learn to swim".

■Making a goal to learn swimming will lead to the popularization of swimming to prevent water accidents.

Mr. Takanori Ayusawa, President of S&F Vietnam, who is also an authorized examiner for this swimming proficiency test, talked about the significance of the test as follows: "Vietnam has many water accidents.

In Vietnam, where water accidents are common, people are highly aware of the need to learn swimming to protect themselves, and many feel the need to learn swimming skills. However, since there are few "familiar goals," many people quit before acquiring sufficient swimming skills. However, in recent years, the number of people who enjoy swimming as a hobby has been gradually increasing, and swimming competitions and open-water swimming events are being held in various regions. While it is great to have the ultimate goal of competing in such competitions in the future, it is not possible to continue unless the steps to get there are well established. The Japanese swimming certification system takes this into consideration, and I hope that it will be beneficial to many Vietnamese swimmers and help prevent water-related accidents, which are a familiar problem in our country.

We will continue our efforts to reduce the number of water-related accidents by popularizing swimming in Vietnam, and to promote a nationwide, unified swimming ability certification system that will serve as a goal to acquire sufficient swimming skills that will lead to the prevention of water-related accidents.
