Furano City (City Hall: 1-1 Yayoi-cho, Furano-shi, Hokkaido; Mayor: Takeratoshi Kita) aims to realize a city of health and happiness, where all people involved in Furano City can lead colorful lives, feel healthy and fulfilled in life, and experience happiness through a safe, secure, and prosperous lifestyle. Furano City, which produces a wide variety of agricultural and livestock products, believes that a healthy diet of seasonal vegetables throughout the year is the first step to a healthy life. We will implement a variety of initiatives as city promotions to promote the city's "vegetable" appeal.

Details of Initiatives

(1) Vegi-Check(R) One-Day Trial Session - Why don't you try "Visualization of Vegetable Intake"?

This is a one-day experience of Vegi-Check(R), which displays vegetable intake in 12 levels just by holding up your hand.

This event is linked to the city's health and wellness point program, and participants in the program will be awarded points based on their measurements.

By holding this event during the Wine Grape Festival, more people will be able to take the Veg-Check(R).

After the Vege Check(R), vegetable juice will be offered and onions will be stuffed as much as possible, leading to intake.

(2) Health & Wellbeing Point x Vegicheck(R) Experience - Why don't you continue "Visualization of vegetable intake"?

This is a project in collaboration with the permanent exhibition of VegeCheck(R) and Kenko Point.

By installing the VegeCheck(R) permanently, you can see the changes in the numbers.

(3)Natokari Seminar (title to be determined)

In order to prevent high blood pressure and lead a healthy life, participants will learn not only how to reduce sodium (salt) but also how to shift their eating habits to a balance between sodium and potassium by taking in potassium and other nutrients from vegetables, which promote the elimination of sodium from the body.

Furano Agricultural Expedition: "Delicious Eating and Zero Carbon" in a Large Onion Selection Facility

Date: Saturday, August 26, 13:00-16:00

Summary ：This is a project to make people "fans of Furano's agriculture" through "onions," Furano City's main product, and to connect it to the zero-carbon movement in terms of local production for local consumption and food loss.

Participants experienced "from field to table" through a tour of onion fields and the latest collection, shipping, and storage facilities, as well as a tasting of onion dishes by cookery expert Ms. Kaoru Osumi.
