The 17th "National Railway Advertising Campaign to Prevent Global Warming! Eco from EKI. Ride on a train that is friendly to the global environment. Art woven with the colors of nature.

公益社団法人日本鉄道広告協会

The Japan Association for Railway  Advertising (JAFRA; Chairman: Ryosuke Arai; Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) is  conducting its 17th "National Railway Advertising Campaign against Global  Warming" from 1st. August (Tuesday) to 31st August (Thursday),  2023.

Poster in JR Shinjuku Station

This campaign, which will brightly illuminate railway advertisements in August, is being carried out using posters and digital signage in stations and trains of 36 JR, railway carrier, and underground companies throughout Japan that have cooperated with this.

The poster visual and the messages of the theme poster are composed of four colors that represent nature "Madder red of the sun", "Dark green of the forest", "Deep blue of the  sea", and "Ochre of the earth". This year as well, the posters and messages are provided by prominent well-known artists and creators who support this campaign as volunteers.

After several years of stagnation, the  train stations and trains are gradually coming back to life. In Japan, the public and private sectors are working together on measures to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Railways are an environmentally friendly means of transportation with low CO2 emissions per unit transport volume, so please cool off a bit in the moving trains and head for your destinations during the severe summer heat.

Over the past few years, we have been covered in a sense of stagnation, the stations and trains, however, have gradually recovered to our former vibrancy. In Japan, the public and private sectors are working together to implement measures to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Railways emit only a small amount of CO2 per unit of transport volume, and are an environmentally friendly means of transportation. The harsh summer heat continues, so please cool down a bit on the train and head to your destination.

For more information on the message behind the visuals, please check the JAFRA website.
