Seasonal "Cheinmuscat Matcha Parfait" from Itohkyuemon in Kyoto and a new "Cheinmuscat Uji-cha (green tea) Jelly" from 8/1 New "Shine Muscat Uji-cha Jelly" to be served from August 1

Uji, Kyoto, founded in the late Edo period (1603-1868), will offer the "Chein Muscat Matcha Parfait" at Itohkyuemon teahouses from August 1, 2023 (Tuesday).

Shine Muscat Matcha Parfait

This year, too, our matcha parfait has borne the fruit of the Shine Muscat. In addition to the homemade Uji green tea jelly, anko (red bean paste), shiratama (white bean curd), and other Japanese ingredients, the sencha jelly on the bottom is an item that only a tea shop can offer. The fresh sweetness of the Cheyenne Muscat, the deep bitterness of the Uji green tea, and the refreshing Sencha gelée are all folded together in the glass. Enjoy this seasonal parfait, which is only available for about a month and a half, decorated with spilling Cheyenne Muscat and light green marble chocolate, in the middle of summer in Uji.

Shine Muscat with Uji tea julep

The new "Chine Muscat Uji Tea Joule" will also be available exclusively at the Uji Main Store. It is available only in limited quantities for one day.

History of Itohkyuemon

It was in the late Edo period (Tempo 3) that Tsuneemon Itoh I and Takizo Itoh began their tea business in the village of Meimura, Tahara Village (present-day Uji-Tawaraminami). The tea business was then passed down from generation to generation through Ito Tsuneemon II and Kyuzaburo, Ito Tsuneemon III and Yoshimatsu, and Ito Takichi IV. In 1952, Kyuzo Ito V moved from Uji-Tawara to Uji, and opened a store selling Uji tea at Uji-Renge (present-day Heidoin Omotesando). In the same year, when he established the company, he took the name of Ito Tsuneemon, which had been passed down from generation to generation, and the first letter of "Hisa" in Ito Kyuzo's own name, and named the company "Ito Kyuemon Co. In Uji-Tawara, where the company was founded, the Ito family continues to grow tea in the tea garden that has been passed down from generation to generation.
